Good thing he teleported far enough away that Frisk didn't hear it when his hand clenched on that whoopee cushion, haha.

Sans gets his first glimpse of Frisk... and what he sees scares him. You can read the comic from the beginning here. For a second, Sans thought it was Toriel who was coming out of the Ruins. Instead, it's the latest piece of the puzzle that's been haunting him ever since he learned of its existence.

The latest chapter of my Undertale fanfic, Just Cause, is out!
Frisk is still reeling from their 'date' with Papyrus, but at least it seems like they've finally made a friend in this terrifying, lonely place... until a meeting between Papyrus and Undyne threatens to ruin everything. Read it on my website here. Read it on AO3 here. The latest page of Just Cause is done, and Flowey is being... Flowey. I hope you enjoy this more than Frisk will! Dang, Flowey’s face is fun to play with. So many expressions, and so few limits on how the face that makes those expressions can be shaped!
Most of Flowey’s dialogue in this scene was copied directly from the corresponding scene in the game, or closely paraphrased. I wanted it to be as authentic to the in-game experience as possible, while tailoring it to the specific set of observations and interactions he’d had with Frisk so far – and, of course, accommodating the fact that this version of Frisk talks back. :P In case it’s unclear, when Flowey says they’ve stolen his place as the prince, he’s referring to himself being a prince. Just Cause!Frisk is intersex – not that Flowey currently knows what sex or gender they are. I hope you enjoyed this page as much as I enjoyed making it. I’m looking forward to the next one, where we finally get to see Timeline 1 Sans! It's been a while since I turned a panel of Just Cause into a wallpaper, and this one seemed especially conducive to it. In this panel, Frisk is wondering if Flowey can wrest control of the timeline from them, and make them relive their most painful moments over and over again.
I'm not entirely happy with it; I feel like the scenes from Frisk's past don't quite mesh with the rest of the picture. They feel slapped-on to me. If you have any suggestions for making them feel more integrated, I'd love to hear them! In this chapter, we see the conclusion of Frisk's painful battle with the woman who wished to be their mother. If you haven't read the previous pages, you can read the comic from the beginning here. Frisk has a LOT of insecurities, and that fight and its aftermath touched on far too many of them, like fingers in an open wound. They desperately need a grownup who will love them and refuse to hurt them unconditionally, but in a place like this, those are in short supply. But hey, there's no situation so bad that a talking flower can't make it worse! In this chapter, Frisk, armed with a fear of adults and a complete lack of dating experience, finds themselves on a date with a skeleton who's just as confused as they are, but who is nonetheless determined to try his best. You can read it on my website here, or on Archive of Our Own here. It was strange, how quickly the atmosphere could change.
One moment, they were leaving a cute, cheery town, whose colorful peace was a dizzying contrast to the swirl of information that was rushing through their head. The next, they were blinded by fog, and the ominous haze felt all too fitting. --- What's this? A new chapter of my Undertale fanfic, Just Cause, after all this time? It's more likely than you think! You can read the latest chapter on my website here. Read it on Archive of Our Own here. If you haven't read the previous chapters yet, you can read the whole story from the beginning here. In the game, if Toriel's hand attack collides with Frisk, her turn ends instantly, like she didn't mean to hit them and is flinching away.
Meanwhile, poor Frisk is trying so hard to keep that missing piece of pie from being the straw that breaks the camel's back, even as the weight of their loss grows heavier on their mind. If Frisk's behavior in this scene is normal for people who have seen a ghost in Undertale, it's no wonder Napstablook is so sad.
And now it's time to return to the scene of their recent trauma, this time with no pie and even less rest than they had before the last time. After all these months?!
Yeah, I figured it was about time I buckled down and got this thing edited before I sidetracked onto yet another series of side projects. Especially given that this is where Timeline 1 Frisk finally meets Sans, and begins my favorite relationship in this whole story! Let's see what they think of each other when they first meet. Go here to read chapter 9. I ended up skimming over some of the Skelebro/Frisk puzzle interactions, because this fic is already 129,515 words long, and that’s with some parts just OUTLINED, not written. If I write every scene in full detail, we’ll never see the end of this. >_< But going light on some scenes means I have more room and time to dive deep into the ones that really matter, like a warrior-scientist getting his first look at a child who might be a space-time anomaly. :) The next chapter is 7,475 words long right now and needs to be edited, but when it's done you'll get to see Papyrus' boss fight and Sans taking Frisk to Grillby's. For those who have stuck with me through this long hiatus, thanks - I hope the chapter is worth the wait! |
