The Latest Chapter of "Just Cause" is Out!

30/5/2021

It was strange, how quickly the atmosphere could change.

One moment, they were leaving a cute, cheery town, whose colorful peace was a dizzying contrast to the swirl of information that was rushing through their head.

The next, they were blinded by fog, and the ominous haze felt all too fitting.

What's this? A new chapter of my Undertale fanfic, Just Cause, after all this time? It's more likely than you think!

You can read the latest chapter on my website here.

Read it on Archive of Our Own here.

Veil of Butterflies, Pride Flag Series

26/5/2021

It's about darn time I made another pride flag art series, and Veil of Butterflies was perfect for it.

I like using butterflies for LGBTQIA+ patterns, because of the way these beautiful creatures symbolize evolving into your fullest, most vibrant and visible self.

By adding the extra layer of butterflies in the background, I made sure that each color on each flag would be amply displayed, so I wouldn't end up with stripes or rings that had too few parts of them visible, which is an issue I ran into with some of my earlier pride flag series.

I hope you enjoy it!

Veil of Butterflies

I recently saw a simple but striking pattern consisting of a light blue background, a slightly darker pattern of leaves on top of it, and a second, even darker pattern of leaves on top of that.

I wanted to try something similar, so I pulled out my trusty butterfly shape and started filling the canvas with wings. I started with a blue version, then tinkered with the coloring to create green, red, purple, monochromatic, and rainbow versions.

I'm working on publishing a pride flag series with this pattern; it's been a while since I did one of those, and this artwork is turning out to be very conducive to it. Also, I like the symbolism of mixing butterflies with LGBTQIA+ flags, given the connotations of metamorphosing from what the world tells you you should be into who you truly are.

Abstract Art: Sparkling Mother of Pearl

12/5/2021

A few days ago, I was in the process of putting Sea of Violet Snowflakes on RedBubble when Mom came up to me with a picture on her phone and asked, "Can you make something kind of like this, but with lots of sparkles, and put it on a phone case?"

If Mom wants me to make some art for her on Mother's Day, then heck yeah, I'm gonna drop the other art thing I'm doing and make her some special art for Mother's Day.

So I put spots and streaks of the colors she'd requested on a blue-grey canvas, and started tinkering with the liquefier tool, occasionally making adjustments at her request.

Then I chose my favorite sparkly brush and started coating the image with stars. (One of the star layers was actually called "BLING OUT THE WAZOO" - if you've watched Over the Hedge, you'll get the reference.

I thought of calling this image "Sparkling Angel Mist", but given its connection to mothers and Mother's Day, I wanted to have "mother" in the title.

If you, too, would like this on a phone case or other physical items, here are some of your options:

Sea of Violet Snowflakes Speedpaint

I decided to do something a bit different with this one; while my previous videos were pretty much all done in real time, the snowflake-drawing part of this video is double speed, and the background-drawing part is even faster.

Otherwise it would've been over 20 minutes long; I lost track of time while drawing snowflakes, haha.

I'd love to get some feedback: do you like it when the video is sped up like this, or would you prefer that I go back to the original speed? You can send the feedback via my contact page, or as a comment on this blog post.

After the video was made, I decided to make the background a bit darker, so the snowflakes would stand out more. So if the finished product looks different from the one in the video, that's why.

Psychedelic Sunset Silhouette

I recently saw an interesting piece of art on Twitter (which, for some reason, I sadly can't find anymore), and it made me want to try drawing a wavy pink tree in front of an ominous red sunset.

I thought about shading the trees, but I kind of like the otherworldly look their near lack of shading gives, like they aren't quite part of the same reality as the clouds.

After I made the initial version, I played around with the colors a bit, and got this version:
