"Voice of a Silent Fugitive" is available on my site, and coming soon to Amazon.

"Voice of a Silent Fugitive" and the Silent Fugitive Complete Series are finally live! You can find them by clicking the button below:
New books!
Getting them live and available to you has been... quite the experience.

"Oh, sure, I'll just publish it on Amazon, throw the book and the box set up on my site... I can do that on Friday, it'll be easy! Sure I had other work to do all day, so the descriptions and images and stuff aren't ready yet... and I have to drop my mom off at the airport, and I only get home from that at 2:00 a.m., but... I can totally pull this off!"

That's what I'm writing at 8:20 in the morning, and no, I haven't slept. I have this terrible habit of totally underestimating how many moving parts go into any given project. Turns out, in order to do a full book launch, including the box set and availability on both Amazon and your own site, you need a cover image for the box set... several versions of a description for both the new book and the box set... gotta make sure all the software's working correctly... gotta cope with the realization that the software that delivers the directly-from-your-site purchases is going to insist on claiming that the books are coming from your copywriter coaching corporation...

And then I discovered, much to my distress, that when I made some adjustments to "My Fugitive" in Amazon, I forgot to set it to half price. Of course, when I hit 'save', it went into 'review' and now I can't edit it until they're all through reviewing it.

So, why am I up at 8:20 in the morning, not having slept? Because I promised a lot of people that I was going to have this thing available today, and that's absolutely what I was going to do. So I did it.

"My Fugitive", "Voice of a Silent Fugitive", and the complete series set are all available directly through my website, and they'll be available on Amazon as well as soon as their review process is complete and I've been allowed to make the necessary tweaks. You can find them by clicking my shiny new "The Silent Fugitive Series" tab.

Just... please try to ignore the message at the bottom of the book delivery email that says it's from my Captivating Copywriter Coaching company. I use the same payment processor for both.

I hope you enjoy my latest novel, and I look forward to hearing your feedback on it! Once again for easy reference, you can access both books and the Complete Series Set by clicking the button below:
Get my books
Remember, in celebration of this launch, both novels are available at half price for this week only. After that, they're back to full price, as is the Complete Series. So get it while it's in season!

If you're not a fan of Wartime Psychological Suspense, perhaps there's someone in your family who is - remember, 'tis the season for getting gifts. ;)

And, one final note: if, by some chance, I've overlooked something or the software decides to complain, please let me know right away, and I'll get it fixed. Thank you!

In celebration of Launch Week, both "My Fugitive" and "Voice of a Silent Fugitive" will be on sale for half off, and the box set will be available for a special early-bird price.

If you've ever wished you could see into the mind of the young, mute soldier who was saved by a civilian girl, be sure to grab your copy on Saturday.

"Voice of a Silent Fugitive" is finished!

I DID IIIIIIIT!

Whew! What a seven months it's been! Back in April, I excitedly announced that the first draft of "Voice of a Silent Fugitive" was complete and ready for editing. Now, I'm sitting here grinning like an idiot, thrilled to be able to share the news that the second round of editing is finally done.

It's ready for publishing!

It certainly took longer than I'd expected; between being a senior partner in one business, and starting up a new business of my own just after the first draft was finished, carving out time to work on my book was a challenge. I actually did a lot of the editing while flossing and brushing my teeth - sitting there in front of the computer, reading until I saw something that needed fixing, then using whatever hand or couple of fingers was free to fix it.

Fun fact: I can probably type faster with two fingers, while my hands are tied together with floss, than some people can with both hands free. And make fewer typos.

Within the next week, "Voice of a Silent Fugitive" will be available for purchase. For those who haven't read "My Fugitive" yet, good news - I'll also be making a 'box set' version so you can purchase them together.

I look forward to sharing this book with you. Be sure to keep checking back, so you can be the first to know when "Voice of a Silent Fugitive" is published!

Author Seeking Red-haired Model For Book Cover

14/11/2013

With “Voice of a Silent Fugitive” nearly complete, I’ve started to keep an eye out for a model for the cover of my next project. The search has been... interesting.

Alexandra, the protagonist of my next novel, is an investigative journalist. She has long, wavy red hair, and unlike far too many women who put their images up for sale on Fotolia, she is neither in her underwear nor drowning in makeup. She’s not giving the camera a cheesy ‘come hither and validate my attempt at sexiness’ look, either.

I haven’t entirely decided on the pose, or which angle she’ll be seen from. If I do choose to have her face in the shot (as opposed to her standing or running with the ‘camera’ behind her), she would have strong, narrow features (think Jean Grey from the live-action X-men movies). I’m not sure what colour her eyes are yet, so who knows - if I like the model enough, I might choose based on her appearance.

So, in summary:
Long, loose red hair
Flattering but practical clothes
Doesn’t look like she’s posing for a camera (I’m looking for an action shot, or maybe a picture of her looking stunned and disturbed, like she’s looking at something awesome and terrible)
Strong, narrow features
Natural-looking makeup, or none at all

If you know of a person, or have seen a photo of one, who fits that description, please tell me so in the comments. I’d be happy to give credit to the model in the back pages of the book if she wants, and to buy the image if it’s for sale.

Thanks!

4 Signs of a Favorite Character

8/11/2013

Well, here I am, at Vrinda Normand's Irresistible Messenger event! I'm having an awesome time - the content is great, the atmosphere is open, exciting, sexy and fun, and I even learned a few belly-dancing moves!

I've had a full day, so this post will be shorter than usual, but this seemed like a fun thing to share:

4 Signs that a Character is Your Favorite

Recently, I’ve noticed that when a character is my favorite, there tend to be some pretty clear signs. These are the ones I’ve observed - let’s see if my “favorite character” signals match yours!

Signs that a character is your favorite:

1. You pay more attention any scene that features them. Other parts of the show might get tuned out, other parts of the book might get skimmed over, but if this character’s involved, your eyes are glued!

2. You wish they were in more chapters, books or episodes, because those stories would have been so much better with them. This, of course, includes EVERY chapter, book or episode.

3. If they do something out of character, or their character development makes it harder (or just less justified) for you to like them, you get PISSED.

4. If #3 makes continuing to like them unreasonable, you make excuses for them. Other characters are jerks if the story says so, but THIS one? Benefit of the doubt, until it becomes impossible.

How many of these do you match? Put the numbers in the comments section, then pass it on so your friends can participate, too.

Even if you don't comment, please pass it on - I'd love to find at least 5 comments here by the time I come home!
