This time, I wanted to draw something more specific and complex, with more differences in color and texture, and the result was two patterns and a huge contrast.
Silver and Sapphires
In a way, it reminds me of "Starry JewelVine", one of the first symmetrical patterns I drew, in that it has wires of a metallic color enclosing gem-like patches of jewel tones. "Silver and Sapphires" is definitely more polished, and I'm proud of the progress I've made.
Here's the older pattern, so you can see the difference:
Golden Sky Symbol
That pattern made me want to try creating a cleaner-looking, more complex version of it, while the 2016 Dr. Strange movie gave me the idea of adding symbols between the spokes.
Here is the result:
When I showed this pattern to my mother, she commented that its background looked like something she'd like on a dress. So I thought "Hey, why not upload that as well?"
In the process of uploading it to RedBubble, I encountered one small problem: a cutout of the background pattern with no additional adornment didn't look very good on T-shirts. So I created this for the products that just have the artwork on one small part of them, such as the chest, instead of being completely covered in it:
Society6 doesn't have a "view everything with this artwork on it" feature, but if you visit the page for this art print and scroll down, you'll see a selection of products with these snowflakes on them.
